Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Washoe County School District. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, and clean floors, including surfaces of various types
  • Vacuum and clean rugs and carpets
  • Dust, wax, and polish furniture and woodwork, fixtures, shelves, cupboards, and counters
  • Clean walls and blackboards
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and showers
  • Empty trash and waste cans and restock supplies
  • Moves furniture and equipment and sets up rooms and auditoriums for special meetings and activities
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing lights, painting small rooms or trim, and removing broken furniture
Requirements
  • Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills
  • Reading, writing, and basic arithmetic skills sufficient to perform job duties
  • Cleaning materials, methods, and equipment knowledge
  • Ability to work effectively under time limitations and without immediate supervision
Benefits

Eligible employees of WCSD receive various benefits, including Social Security benefits, salary increases, longevity bonuses, and credit union benefits, depending on their scheduled hours per week.

Eligible employees who regularly work 20 hours per week or more receive full benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, holiday pay, vacation pay, sick leave, life insurance, and insurance premiums for summer months.

New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter, with a $58.50 deduction from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting.
