Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Cut-to-Length Line Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a cut-to-length line machine, producing prime material for our customers, and maintaining all aspects of product quality.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate Cut-To-Length line, including proper leveler adjustments to correct steel shape.
  • Maintain all aspects of product quality, including selection and appearance of material, dimensional tolerance, weight, piece count, etc.
  • Prepare inspection records and report production data.
  • Assist with handling quality issues.
  • Communicate with other areas on changes to scheduling, processing, etc.
  • Report machine malfunctions to supervision and assist outside maintenance if needed with major repairs.
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures, and adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and accordance with Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. Safety Policy.
  • Assist in other areas on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Warehousing and material handling experience required.
  • Operate assigned equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
  • Maintain neat and orderly conditions in work area, help maintain and promote safe conditions throughout the facility.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Basic arithmetic skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all common units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions, as well as alternative solutions.
  • Overall ability to understand the goals of the company (safety, efficiency, quality, etc.).
  • Must be able to effectively use company database (eStel).
  • Must demonstrate conflict resolution, respect, integrity, ethics, punctuality, dependability, accuracy, safety, and teamwork while maintaining company values.
  • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.
