Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our team at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Medical and Surgical area, working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social, and educational needs, developing and implementing individualized plans of care based on evidence-based practice standards and patient/family needs.
  • Provide or facilitate learning opportunities to meet patients' and families' educational needs, assessing learning needs and formulating and initiating teaching plans to meet those needs.
  • Evaluate and document patients' and families' responses to nursing interventions, working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
  • Effectively communicate pertinent patient changes/conditions to co-workers and multidisciplinary caregivers, delegating and supervising patient care activities within the scope of practice of healthcare workers to meet patient care needs.
  • Identify and act to solve problems, supporting process improvement teams that influence customer satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and financial stability.
  • Document patient information in the electronic/paper medical record, at the bedside and as soon as possible, in an accurate and timely manner.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a program in professional nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Iowa required.
  • Completes Introduction to Telemetry class or equivalent within 3 months of hire.
  • Experience with computer software and willingness to learn new software (Excel, Microsoft, electronic health record, WorkDay, etc.).
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.
