About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store Manager Candidate to join our retail operations team at Dollar General. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for supporting the Store Manager in the effective implementation of all store processes, including employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in recruiting and staffing activities to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Support store merchandising by facilitating and participating in the staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise, ensuring that it is presented according to established practices and store manager direction.
  • Assist in all aspects of inventory management, including proper execution of damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
  • Follow prescribed ordering practices to ensure the meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets.
  • Provide superior customer service leadership and act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
  • Participate in store opening and closing activities and ensure the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
  • Assist in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures.
  • Assist in the maintenance of clean, well-stocked stores and provide a safe environment for customers and employees.
  • Operate the store in the Store Manager's absence and review operating statements to identify business trends and expense control opportunities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, perform mathematical calculations, and learn and perform IBM cash register functions.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices, cash handling procedures, and recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organization skills with attention to detail.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking and standing, frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, and occasional climbing using a ladder.
  • Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment, occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds, and occasional driving to make bank deposits and attend management meetings.
