Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Busser to join our team at Mijo Modern Mexican. As a Busser, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dining room, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Table Setting and Maintenance: Set and reset tables with clean dishes, silverware, and polished glassware before, during, and after service periods.
  2. Food and Beverage Service: Pour waters, serve breads, condiments, and side items as necessary, and deliver food to guest tables in an appropriate manner.
  3. Menu Knowledge and Preparation: Command full menu knowledge at all times and preparation methods.
  4. Guest Interaction: Identify and briefly describe each plate to guests accurately, bid farewell to guests using their name when known, and encourage them to return.
  5. Teamwork and Communication: Work effectively with management, chefs, and culinary staff to fulfill and address guest needs and issues.
  6. Anticipating Guest Needs: Anticipate guests' needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
  7. Pre-Bussing and Bussing: Pre-buss and bus tables during service periods, and assist servers with service steps where necessary.
  8. Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain general cleanliness in the dining room during service periods, stack and stock side stations with dry goods, extra china, settings, and silverware, and buff/polish glass and silverware as needed.
  9. Setup and Breakdown: Set up and break down side stations before and after service.
  10. Spill Cleanup: Clean all spills immediately, using floor signs when necessary.
  11. Adherence to Policies: Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company and health and safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2 years of experience as a busser in a similar, high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills; multilingual is a plus.
  • Language Proficiency: Must be able to speak and read English proficiently.
  • Appearance and Attitude: Professionally groomed in a manner consistent with department grooming standards, positive attitude, self-motivated, energetic, and a willing learner.
  • Attention to Detail: Good attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Ability to use standard kitchen equipment, including refrigerators/coolers, slicers, sharp knives, beverage machines, etc.
  • Health and Safety: Knowledgeable about health and safety regulations, maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Physical Demands: Physically able to lift and carry at least 50lbs on a tray or arm service, as well as delicate china and glassware, and walk without assistance on various surfaces for an extended period of time.
