Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Busser to join our team at Mijo Modern Mexican. As a Busser, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our dining room, providing exceptional service to our guests, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set and reset tables with clean dishes, silverware, and polished glassware before, during, and after service periods.
  • Pour water, serve bread, condiments, and side items as needed.
  • Command full menu knowledge at all times and preparation methods.
  • Deliver food to guest tables in an appropriate manner.
  • Identify and briefly describe each plate to guests accurately.
  • Follow the Food and Beverage sequence of service, utilizing all proper procedures standardized by venue managers and chefs.
  • Work effectively with management, chefs, and culinary staff to fulfill and address guest and employee needs.
  • Anticipate guests' needs and respond with a sense of urgency.
  • Bid farewell to guests, using their name when known, and encourage them to return.
  • Pre-bus and bus tables during service periods, assisting servers with service steps as needed.
  • Maintain general cleanliness in the dining room during service periods.
  • Stack and stock side stations with dry goods, extra china, settings, and silverware.
  • Buff and polish glass and silverware as needed.
  • Set up and break down side stations before and after service.
  • Load and unload linens as necessary.
  • Clean spills immediately, using floor signs when necessary.
  • Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company and health and safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience as a busser in a similar, high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Good communication skills; multilingual is a plus.
  • Must be able to speak and read English proficiently.
  • Professionally groomed in a manner consistent with department grooming standards.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, energetic, and a willing learner.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Ability to follow directions well, make quick decisions, and stay organized under pressure.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties with extreme care, concern, and detail.
  • Ability to use standard kitchen equipment, including refrigerators/coolers, slicers, sharp knives, beverage machines, etc.
  • Knowledgeable about health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Physically able to lift and carry at least 50lbs on a tray or arm service where it applies, as well as delicate china and glassware.
  • Physically able to walk without assistance on various surfaces for an extended period of time.
