Job Title: CDLA Fair Delivery Driver

We are seeking a reliable and skilled CDLA Fair Delivery Driver to join our team at Scholastic Book Fairs. As a CDLA Fair Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for delivering and picking up book fairs at schools across the country.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver and pick up book fairs at schools in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Inspect and prepare the fifth wheel before coupling.
  • Utilize a semi-tractor with a 48' or 53' trailer to line haul fairs from the branch facility to the hub location.
  • Deliver fairs using a semi-tractor with a pup trailer.
  • Couple and uncouple trailers safely and in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the supervisor to ensure customer service standards are maintained.
  • Load and unload trucks with or without assistance of mechanical devices.
  • Effectively communicate routing problems to the supervisor.
  • Deliver and pick up product from schools in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Secure and transport products to ensure a damage-free fair.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the motor vehicle.
  • Complete and maintain accurate and legible records.
  • Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Call the regional or branch office immediately in case of an accident or problem.
  • Assist in completing warehouse tasks as required.
  • Overnight routes as necessary.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Attend monthly driver meetings and complete continuous training materials.
  • Complete the Certificate of Violation Process timely and accurately.
  • Utilize proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Maintain the truck per company standards.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with the schedule.
  • Comply with the drug and alcohol-free policy.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred.
  • Verifiable commercial driving experience of at least one year required.
  • Minimum of twenty-one years of age.
  • Possess a valid CDL A license with air brake endorsement.
  • CDL A must be validated through recertification with an approved driving school.
  • Pass a drug screen, alcohol screen, Motor Vehicle Record review, criminal background review, and a DOT physical examination.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 70 lbs. and push, pull, lift, and handle metal/plastic cases weighing more than 350lbs on a regular and repetitive basis.
  • Customer service-oriented.
  • Ability to read road maps and follow directions.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Strong team player and ability to get along with coworkers.
  • Good verbal/written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read.
