About the Role

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Accounting Consultant to join our team at the Colorado Enterprise Fund. As a key member of our Business Navigation team, you will play a critical role in providing expert accounting advice and guidance to small business owners, helping them to achieve financial success and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exercise independent judgment to offer business consulting advice to CEF borrowers on potential business decisions in areas such as financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Facilitate the setup of accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online, and provide guidance on chart of accounts, payroll setup, and bank reconciliation.
  • Diagnose and resolve accounting system issues, and coach business owners or their accountants in developing skills to rebuild deficient accounting systems.
  • Provide expert analysis of financial statements, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets, to help business owners make informed decisions.
  • Assist customers in cash projection and budgeting, and articulate financial concepts and strategies to borrowers with varying levels of financial literacy.
  • Collaborate with other Business Navigators, Loan Officers, and partner organizations to provide comprehensive support to small business owners.
Requirements
  • Minimum six years' experience working as a small business accountant or accountant in another industry.
  • Solid work history of understanding, articulating, and solving accounting problems for a variety of small business types.
  • Spanish fluency, spoken and written, required given the communities that CEF is serving.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required.
  • Past or current CPA credentials are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid working knowledge of small business financial best practices along with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Deep knowledge and ability to setup QuickBooks online or a similar alternative.
  • Ability to work with customer accounting systems remotely and in-person.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
Work Environment

The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adjust with shifting priorities as needed to meet the needs of our customer base. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, as well as the ability to travel to main CEF offices for regular meetings and training events.
