Meat Cutter Apprentice

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter Apprentice to join our team at Martin's Super Markets. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for cutting and preparing various types of meats to meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.

• Cut and trim meats to order, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Prepare 'value-added' products, such as ground meats and sausages, according to established guidelines.
• Operate departmental equipment, including meat saws and grinders, safely and efficiently.
• Price, date, and wrap meat products, ensuring accurate labeling and presentation.
• Rotate and merchandise shelves, cases, and displays to maintain a visually appealing store environment.
• Notify management of product and supply needs, ensuring seamless inventory management.
• Receive, unload, and stock merchandise, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Develop a strong understanding of all products carried in the department, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers, enhancing the overall shopping experience.
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department, adhering to all PPE and safety guidelines.
• Follow all food safety and cleaning expectations, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for customers and colleagues.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer experience needs.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred, with prior experience in a meat cutting or apprentice role strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Basic mathematical skills and attention to detail.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
