Meat Cutter Apprentice

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter Apprentice to join our team at SpartanNash. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for cutting and preparing various types of meats to meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.

• Cut and trim meats to precise specifications
• Prepare value-added products according to established guidelines
• Operate department scales to accurately weigh and price products
• Rotate and merchandise shelves, cases, and displays to maintain a visually appealing store environment
• Notify management of product and supply needs
• Unload and stock merchandise
• Develop a strong understanding of all products carried in the department, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use
• Practice suggestive selling techniques with customers to enhance the shopping experience
• Maintain a clean, attractive, and well-stocked department
• Follow all PPE and Safety Guidelines, Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations, and Guest Experience Guidelines

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of retail or related experience preferred, with prior experience in a Meat Cutter, Apprentice role strongly preferred
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents
• Basic mathematical skills
• Detail-oriented

The physical demands of this role include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting and moving up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The associate may be required to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently. The work environment is typically a retail store with varied temperatures and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
