Psychiatric Social Worker I

Job Summary
The Department of Mental Health within Los Angeles County is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Social Worker I to join our Directly Operated Outpatient Clinics. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families in need of mental health services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical intake assessments with clients and their families/significant others, collaborating with clients to develop treatment plans.
- Carry a caseload of severely mentally ill outpatient clients and provide individual therapy, collateral, and rehabilitation services.
- Provide crisis counseling and psychotherapy to individuals, groups, and to promote engagement into treatment.
- Assist in problem-solving and work to gain clients' acceptance for the potential benefits of mental health treatment.
- Monitor clients' treatment plans and assist with any linkage or case management needs.
- Complete and submit treatment progress notes and adjunct documentation as required under DMH documentation standards.
Requirements
- A Master's degree from an accredited school of social work.
- A valid and active Associate Clinical Social Worker registration issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Behavioral Sciences.
- A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
- Successful clearance through Los Angeles County's Live Scan process.
Work Environment
This is a temporary, full-time, benefitted position. The ideal candidate will have experience in assessing and managing clients with severe persistent mental illness, as well as expertise in trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles.
