We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant II Certified to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic setting.
Responsibilities- Perform rooming and intake processes, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
- Collect patient and family data, including medical and social history.
- Review patient medication lists, allergies, and preferred pharmacies.
- Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
- Administer medications under provider direction.
- Perform tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under provider direction.
- Review patient records to determine routine health screenings.
- Ensure exam and treatment rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Provide patient education and instructions.
- Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Assist with patient registration, scheduling, and referrals.
- Answer clinic phones and assist with in-basket tasks.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA required.
- Basic Life Support Certification from AHA or ARC required.
- At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use a computer to document patient information.
This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek. The salary range is $25.86 per hour, with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity.
This position is exempt from overtime and is located at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC.
