Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant II Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare teams in an outpatient clinic setting. This role involves working under the supervision of a provider for patient care activities and under the general direction of a designated manager or supervisor.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs rooming and intake processes, collecting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and information related to the patient's reason for visit.
2. Collects patient and family data, including medical and social history.
3. Reviews patient medication lists, allergies, and preferred pharmacies.
4. Assists providers as directed during treatments, examinations, and procedures.
5. Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
6. Administers medications under the direction of a provider.
7. Performs tests, such as EKGs and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
8. Reviews patient records to determine if routine health screenings are required.
9. Ensures exam and procedure rooms have necessary supplies, equipment, forms, and educational materials.
10. Provides patients with after-visit instructions and educational materials as directed.
11. Prepares, cleans, stocks, and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
12. Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
13. Assists with patient registration, check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and scheduling of tests and treatments.
14. Answers clinic telephones and assists with in-basket tasks under the direction of a provider or nurse.
15. Assists in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.

Additional Responsibilities:

As a Certified Medical Assistant II, you may be responsible for precepting new medical assistants, training other medical assistants, and assisting with clinic procedures. You may also be involved in maintaining preventive health measures, such as immunization or medication registries, and performing audits as required.

Requirements:

Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC).
At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as a team with staff and providers, and to engage positively with patients and families.
