Position: Port Dispatcher - Savannah

We are currently seeking a skilled Port Dispatcher with a strong background in Port and Drayage operations to enhance our team in Savannah. This role is crucial for managing high-volume scheduling and dispatching, as well as addressing any operational challenges faced by our owner-operators and third-party carriers. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to customer service, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently schedule and dispatch owner-operators and third-party carriers operating under Cargomatic's SCAC code.
  • Strategically plan routes to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our network of owner-operators and carriers.
  • Evaluate driver and vehicle capabilities for each transportation request.
  • Monitor and trace shipments throughout the delivery process.
  • Identify and resolve any issues, delays, or concerns related to shipments.
  • Ensure precise and timely reporting and data entry.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to both carriers and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Utilize Cargomatic's proprietary software to manage daily operations and loads effectively.
  • Carry out operational and administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Port/Drayage Dispatching is essential.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong understanding of logistics principles, supply chain terminology, and dispatching best practices.
  • Proficient in analyzing complex scenarios and making informed decisions.
  • Exceptional communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation abilities and adeptness at overcoming objections.
  • Capacity to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is advantageous.
