Job Title: Dental Hygiene Specialist

MyCare Health Center is seeking a skilled Dental Hygiene Specialist to provide high-quality oral health care services to our patients. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care, educating patients on oral health, and collaborating with our dental team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the oral health management of all clinic patients, providing personalized care and attention to detail.
  • Conduct baseline oral hygiene assessments, utilizing accepted principles of oral hygiene and periodontal care.
  • Utilize Electronic Dental Records to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, and MyCare protocols.
  • Record patient-hygienist transactions, documenting the nature of the contact, patient condition, and care provided.
  • Provide oral health education and individual counseling to patients, promoting healthy habits and disease prevention.
  • Deliver clinical oral hygiene services, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application, in accordance with professional standards and MyCare protocols.
  • Support our supervising dentist by taking and developing radiographs, dental charting, and disclosing dental and medical findings, ensuring compliance with state regulations and MyCare directives.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to integrate patient dental hygiene care with overall health management.
  • Organize and conduct preventive oral health presentations at on-site and off-site locations, promoting community awareness and education.
  • Assist in providing technical assistance and health education in the community, as requested.
  • Perform independent procedures, as delegated and directed by a dentist, in accordance with state regulations and MyCare protocols.
  • Maintain treatment areas, ensuring compliance with infection control, exposure control, and safety protocols.
  • Respond to professional matters, clinic business, and patient care, receiving and placing necessary telephone calls.
  • Assist with various clinical and administrative functions, as needed, to support the center's operations.
  • Ensure proper disposal of contaminated or potentially contaminated materials, in accordance with directives and center policies.
  • Comply with the practice's Exposure/Infection Control Plan, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Travel, as necessary, to meet operational needs.
  • Perform other related and/or necessary tasks, as directed by a supervisor, to achieve organizational and programmatic goals.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and center rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing the practice of dental hygiene and clinical provision of dental hygiene services.
  • Promote efficient, organized, and pleasant office operations, consistent with MyCare's mission to provide care in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
  • Maintain professional licensure and complete required Continuing Education, as needed, to ensure compliance with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene.
  • Unrestricted license to practice Oral Hygiene in the State of Michigan.
  • Current CPR (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, preferred.
  • At least two years of family dental practice or community health center experience, preferred.
