We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Specialist II to join our team at the City of Gastonia, NC. This role will be responsible for administering the City's federal housing programs and ensuring compliance with program standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct housing inspections to ensure compliance with program standards and regulations
- Develop and maintain work write-ups, cost estimates, and bid specifications for housing activities
- Coordinate with developers, contractors, and other departments on housing activities
- Track local market estimates for materials, products, and labor
- Perform other housing-related duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years' experience working in the building construction industry
- Knowledge of North Carolina minimum housing code standards, building codes, and lead-based paint requirements
- Ability to thoroughly inspect structures, analyze facts, and prepare concise reports
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with officials, employees, community agencies, clients, and the public
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office software and construction design software
- Competitive salary: $33.10 per hour
