Job Summary

The Principal Electrical Engineer will be part of a team focused on the development, integration, test, and maintenance of hardware/software as a part of on-site factory support of test systems to support product testing. This role will involve developing applications, libraries, and instrument drivers using the software style, development language, and integrated development environment specified by the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Automated Test Equipment (ATE) test software for a factory/production environment which exercises and analyzes hardware deliverable products.
  • Support cradle to grave efforts including requirements, design, integration, validation, verification, and maintenance for all test software activities.
  • Prioritize, handle, and lead multiple tasks in a production environment.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware for test equipment development.
  • Communicate with an engineering team, functional team, and program leadership.
  • Coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules.
  • Prepare and present project/technical information to peers, internal management, and customers.
  • Review product designs and create test solutions that maximize test coverage in the manufacturing and service environments.

Requirements
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience, or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with software skills in C++, Python, C# are required.
  • Must have experience supporting automated test stations or systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with software applications using C, NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, or other test software programming languages.
  • Strong technical writing skills and an ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team of professionals.
  • Ability to interface ATE test software with laboratory and production tests instrumentation such as but not limited to oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, and/or direct current power supplies.
  • Knowledge of software Configuration Management environments such as Git/Github/Subversion.
  • Experience with file transfer protocol (FTP) and data transfer between Unit Under Test and test set computer for Software/Firmware loading as well as data captures.
  • Ability to reverse engineer existing equipment (i.e. documenting something that is already built).
  • Excellent time management skills - ability to unsupervised, multitask and delegate work to support technicians, engineering support staff and peers.
  • Some previous experience in managing small teams through hardware builds (parts ordering, build coordination, etc.).
  • Coordinating test equipment design reviews and ensuring the generation of appropriate design documentation.
  • Design and implement activities required to deploy the project test solutions to world-wide destinations.
  • Highly motivated and possess effective oral/written communication and interpersonal/team skills.
