Role Summary
Lincoln Land Community College is seeking applications for a Peer Educator role focused on enhancing student mental health and wellness initiatives. This position involves assisting in the organization, scheduling, and execution of various programs, campaigns, and training sessions aimed at promoting student well-being and addressing issues related to interpersonal and sexual violence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on potential programs and initiatives for awareness campaigns and training sessions.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of events related to student mental health and wellness.
- Act as a student representative in various committees or taskforce meetings.
- Facilitate training sessions for students, including Bystander Intervention programs.
- Represent mental health initiatives and wellness programs during outreach events.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Institutional Responsibilities
- Adhere to the mission of LLCC and maintain professional conduct in interactions with students, staff, faculty, and the public.
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality regulations, including FERPA.
Compensation and Work Schedule
Students will receive minimum wage, with a flexible work schedule based on availability. Regular office hours may be set from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with additional hours for events as necessary. Total working hours will not exceed 20 hours per week.
Qualifications
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
- Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) during the semester of employment.
- Complete mandatory harassment prevention training within 30 days of employment.
- Minimum GPA of 2.0 required.
- Willingness to learn about supporting students facing mental health and wellness challenges.
- Ability to effectively research issues affecting college students.
- Strong communication skills to engage with diverse student populations on sensitive topics.
- Exhibit behavior that aligns with the missions of mental health and wellness initiatives.
- Comfortable with public speaking and engaging in one-on-one conversations with students.
- Reliable and committed to meeting deadlines and managing priorities.
