Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Specialist 1 to join our team in Region 1 Construction. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects, ensuring compliance with Department plans and specifications, and providing technical guidance to contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field inspections to verify compliance with Department plans and specifications
  • Manage small to mid-size construction projects, ensuring timely completion and quality of work
  • Supervise state and/or consultant inspection staff, providing technical guidance and support
  • Participate in the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have a strong background in civil engineering or engineering technology related to transportation infrastructure work. You must also have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Additional requirements include:

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Six years of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering or engineering technology related to transportation infrastructure work
  • 30 semester hours of training for a technical institute, community college, or college in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, construction technology, engineering, physical, or applied sciences
