Job Description:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Accounting Clerk/Cashier. This position is integral to the financial operations within a community-focused institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of fiscal duties, including but not limited to:
  • Cashiering and processing of financial transactions
  • Preparing and managing invoices
  • Processing payroll for contract personnel
  • Completing invoicing and posting transactions to accounts
  • Handling payments for services rendered

In addition to these core responsibilities, the role includes:

  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations
  • Conducting report writing and financial data reconciliation
  • Managing records and scheduling tasks
  • Reviewing and processing invoices
  • Collecting and analyzing data for financial reporting
  • Researching and managing inventory and budget
  • Administering personnel-related financial tasks
  • Overseeing funds collection and expenditure

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience in finance, bookkeeping, or accounting
  • Proficiency in various PC-based software, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work independently
  • Understanding of cashiering policies and accounting principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounts receivable and payroll processes
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Capability to produce routine reports and correspondence

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) and Workforce Enterprise System (WES) is advantageous.
