As a Dietary Worker I at the University of Massachusetts, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service facilities. This position requires a team player who is able to perform a variety of tasks, including food preparation, cleaning, and serving.
Key Responsibilities- Food Preparation: Prepare simple meals and dishes, including peeling, chopping, washing, and cooking food. Operate kitchen equipment and load food carts.
- Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean facilities, including equipment, food areas, furniture, floors, and utensils. Maintain a clean and safe environment for staff and customers.
- Serving and Customer Service: Serve food to customers, assist with setting up dining areas, and maintain an adequate supply of utensils and dinnerware.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform related duties as assigned, including operating a cash register and maintaining simple records.
- Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of approved sanitary methods and procedures for kitchen, dining room, and food service equipment.
- Cooking Skills: Ability to cook a variety of simple meals and use kitchen equipment.
- Communication Skills: Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions and establish harmonious working relationships with others.
- Physical Demands: Physical ability and stamina to perform manual tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and working in varying climatic conditions.
This position is designated as essential personnel and requires the ability to work varied shifts and/or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays. The physical demands of this position include balancing, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, bending, reaching, twisting, lifting, and performing repetitive movements.
