Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at Veolia North America. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for executing the accounting and controlling functions for a region of our Municipal portfolio of business. Your primary focus will be on building and analyzing financial statements, comparing reported results to budgets, forecasts, and prior year trends, and creating ad-hoc analyses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute general accounting structure and processes for the regional business, ensuring compliance with company policies and directives.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including revenue recognition principles and practices, managing revenue and expense accruals, and ensuring the integrity of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reporting.
  • Review and approval of journal entries prepared by business units, and preparation of select journal entries with significant emphasis on accurate and thorough accruals.
  • Provide and analyze financial and operating results of the business, including review of internal and external financial reporting, and comparisons in terms of revenues, costs, profitability, and liquidity.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Monthly Operating Report (MOR) for assigned reporting package, prepares bridges focusing on comparisons of profitability versus budget, forecasts, and prior year results, and preparing/analyzing monthly Flash and dashboard reporting.
  • Prepare and review accounts receivable and allowances for contract customers.
  • Compliance with and execution of the detailed month-end closing schedule for M&C Finance, acting as the liaison to operational and overhead teams to assist with variance analysis, trends, projections, and compliance with deadlines and expectations.
  • Propose changes to accounting and operational processes to enhance automation and efficiency of the department.
  • Participate in the formulation of budgets and forecasts for assigned business units under the direction of management, working jointly with operational and SG&A organizations to ensure accuracy of output prepared.
  • Coordination and preparation of audit workpapers as required by the external audit process, working closely with senior management to complete all audit requirements.
  • Support and cross-train with Billing Specialist/Coordinator to ensure accurate client billing.
  • Participate in finance and accounting training to business units and be a key business partner to operational staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required.
  • 4+ years of experience within one or more areas of accounting or financial management required, coupled with the demonstrated ability to apply financial theory, principles, and techniques.
  • Candidates possessing a CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of USGAAP and internal controls required, previous IFRS experience a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong prior experience with the financial and accounting aspects of ERP systems (SAP preferred), including moderate system setup and organization familiarity.
  • Strong computing skills with proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office suite of products required.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and the Company's Code of Business Conduct.
  • Consistently applies company policies and procedures applicable to day-to-day assignments and displays insight into understanding the underlying purpose of the task in addition to its strict completion.
  • Displays capability for innovation in the development of complex analyses demonstrating the ability to foster idea creation independently.
