Job Title: Driver License Examiner with CDL

Join the State of Pennsylvania as a Driver License Examiner with CDL and play a vital role in ensuring public safety on the roads. As a Driver License Examiner, you will be responsible for conducting standardized knowledge tests for both commercial and non-commercial applicants, as well as overseeing pre-trip and driving assessments for non-commercial drivers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct non-commercial and commercial driver license knowledge examinations for applicants to ensure they have a knowledge and understanding of the PA Motor Vehicle Code, laws, rules and regulations, operating procedures and practical ability to interpret road signs and signals.
  • Conduct non-commercial and commercial driver license pre-trip and driving skills tests, determining vehicle characteristics to ensure appropriate tests are administered and reviewing and checking for valid vehicle registration and insurance and conducting the appropriate safety inspections prior to administering testing.
  • Review and process identity documents and credentials by accessing various tools, systems and databases, authenticating and identifying documents used to establish identity and eligibility for driver license/identification card products and to aid in identifying irregularities and fraud.
  • Communicate information related to driver license applications, required documents, testing procedures, test results, and the complaint process to customers.
Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
  • Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
  • No suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
  • Active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N.
