Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse (RN or LVN) to join our team at the Stafford Municipal School District. As a key member of our school health services team, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to students, utilizing professional assessment skills and established school health protocols.
  • Develop and implement effective health education programs for students, promoting healthy habits and preventive practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and medical professionals to ensure students receive comprehensive care and support.
  • Manage and maintain accurate health records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities to stay current on best practices and new medical developments.
  • Provide health-related educational opportunities for students, staff, and parents, promoting a culture of health and wellness.

Requirements:

  • Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Certification in CPR, vision and hearing screening, and as a health screener.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures, and provide first aid and CPR procedures.
  • Knowledge of child guidance principles and practices, and proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance skills.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The nurse will be exposed to bacteria and communicable diseases, and will work with students who may have special needs. The nurse must be able to maintain emotional control under stress and work effectively with frequent phone interactions.
