**Job Title:** Forensic Peer Specialist
**Company Overview:** The Northeast Recovery Learning Community (NERLC) is a leading provider of recovery services in the Massachusetts area. Our team is dedicated to supporting individuals with mental health challenges and addiction issues.
**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Forensic Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Forensic Peer Specialist, you will work closely with individuals who have been impacted by the justice system, providing support and guidance as they navigate their journey towards recovery.
**About the Role:** In this role, you will provide 1:1 and group support to individuals, helping them understand and navigate the Massachusetts Justice system. You will also assist with developing skills and knowledge related to recovery, wellness, and re-entering the community.
**Key Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals in understanding and navigating the Massachusetts Justice system
- Provide 1:1 and group support specific to successfully completing community re-entry, probation requirements, and mental health/drug court involvement
- Coach individuals to identify personal interests related to recovery and accessing community resources
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with community agencies and advocacy organizations
- Represent the NERLC in mental health courts, correctional facilities, homeless shelters, halfway homes, and other community settings
**Qualifications:** To be successful in this role, you must be a person with prior justice involvement, living in recovery from mental health challenges/trauma. You should have completed or be willing to complete a recognized peer training program and provide verification within the first 12 months of employment. This position requires occasional nights and weekend hours, as well as access to reliable transportation to work with individuals in all 69 cities and towns served by the DMH Northeast area.
**Estimated Salary:** $45,000 - $60,000 per year, based on experience.
