Job Summary:

The Chaplain Certified II provides spiritual care to patients, families, and associates, reaching across religious and cultural boundaries. This role requires ethical and spiritual guidance to help patients and families make informed treatment choices. The Chaplain Certified II promotes a spiritual environment within the hospital by participating in prayer services, organizing prayer in patient waiting areas, and utilizing the PA system. Key responsibilities include visiting patients in assigned areas, providing follow-up ministry as needed, taking spiritual care calls, making sacramental referrals, and maintaining required professional expertise and skills.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services
  • Four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
  • Two years of experience in hospital ministry or equivalent
  • Demonstrated connection to a recognized religious community or body
  • Endorsement from appropriate ecclesiastical authority consistent with denominational practice
  • Current Certification by NACC (National Association of Catholic Chaplains), APC (Association of Professional Chaplains), or Association of VA Chaplains
