We are committed to providing high-quality patient care and are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team.

In this role, you will assist the RN in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks in accordance with the NYS LPN scope of practice and NYULH policy.

You will provide competent, safe, and compassionate care with an emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by patients and their families.

Responsibilities include checking vital signs, recording patient medical history, and utilizing specialized skills and safety when carrying out specific tasks of patient care as assigned.

Additional responsibilities include participating in patient-centered quality and performance improvement programs, acquiring and maintaining current LPN knowledge and competence, and supporting the missions, philosophy, standards, goals, and objectives of NYULH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect patient healthcare data systematically and on an ongoing basis using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments.
  • Enforce adherence to NYULH and FGP policies and procedures and standards, including but not limited to HIPAA Compliance and Human Resources.
  • Participate in coordination of unit activities to provide patient care in a healing, humane, and caring environment.
  • Engage in self-assessment and participate in activities to promote own professional growth and development.
  • Obtain patient vital signs, weights, EKGs as needed, and perform blood collection/phlebotomy as needed.
  • Administer medications, including injections, in accordance with NYULMC clinical guidelines and NYS Scope of Practice.
  • Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas, and assist in escorting patients.
  • Maintain an awareness of current patient-centered evidence-based practices and use knowledge of applicable research data in provision of patient care.
  • Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team and promote collegial relationships.
  • Assist patients and communicate with licensed providers to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
  • Perform patient-related functions as directed by the Licensed Provider and/or Registered Nurse (RN) and document properly.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of LPN program with current NYS OP LPN licensure and registration.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a team work environment which pursues a positive patient care experience.
  • Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual, and aural acuity to perform responsibilities needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BLS certification preferred.
