Theatre Production Educator for Grades 7-12

Oakwood School is in search of a dedicated Theatre Production Educator for students in grades 7-12. The successful applicant will possess a strong proficiency in instructing both middle and high school students in the realm of technical theatre. This role requires collaboration with a diverse range of learners, from novices to advanced participants, and engagement in various school musical and theatrical events. A solid foundation in stagecraft, scenic design, and technical production, including sound and lighting, is essential. The teaching responsibilities will encompass courses such as Introduction to Theatre Technology, Stagecraft, and Advanced Technical Theatre.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee set construction, including scenic painting, lighting setup, and sound operation;
- Ensure proper organization and storage of equipment and materials;
- Maintain an accurate inventory of technical equipment;
- Coordinate support and staffing for technical rehearsals and productions, including musicals, plays, concerts, and other events;
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly facility by coordinating necessary services;
- Train and collaborate with students, volunteers, parents, and staff during work calls;
- Manage guest and adjunct faculty specialists involved in production aspects (e.g., costume designers, scenic painters, lighting specialists);
- Assist the Technical Director, Drama Instructors, Advisors, and Administrators in enhancing the performing arts program for Oakwood students;
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma with 2+ years of post-secondary experience in stagecraft and technical theatre;
- Experience in teaching at the secondary level and involvement in student productions;
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to the position, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs;
- Basic knowledge of operating advanced lighting and sound equipment;
- Proven ability to work independently and establish effective relationships with students, staff, and community members.
Expected compensation ranges from $71,849 to $85,192 annually, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.
