Position Overview

Sigma Computing is seeking a skilled Revenue Accountant to enhance our finance team. This role is essential for the daily operations and monthly accounting tasks, including account reconciliations and maintaining the subledger within the revenue cycle.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of customer contracts, including modifications, to ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards under ASC 606.
  • Prepare detailed supporting schedules to verify that all contracts and changes are accurately analyzed and documented, ensuring that revenue calculations align with technical accounting conclusions and company policies.
  • Oversee timely and precise billing operations, including the review of sales taxes on invoices.
  • Manage customer payments and maintain up-to-date revenue accounting records within the system.
  • Contribute to the month-end closing process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses related to the revenue cycle.
  • Assist with sales tax filings and collaborate closely with FP&A to support their collection efforts.
  • Respond to ad hoc management inquiries related to the revenue cycle.
  • Continuously seek process improvements in daily activities.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, with a preference for public accounting or corporate accounting backgrounds.
  • At least 2 years of experience with ERP/General Ledger Systems.
  • 2+ years of experience working with ASC 606 and/or accounts receivable functions.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel, particularly in handling large datasets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • The ability to gather, interpret, and analyze relevant data to apply appropriate accounting and operational procedures.
  • A proactive attitude, with a strong sense of initiative and reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Self-motivation and dedication, with the ability to work independently and solve problems.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative spirit, promoting inclusiveness and communication within the team.
  • Proven project management experience and a demonstrated ability to drive initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • CPA license.
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or Salesforce.
  • Revenue accounting experience in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience in accounting automation and implementation.
  • Involvement in US GAAP financial audits.
