Director of Quality Job Description

Southland Steel Fabricators, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Quality to lead our quality management system and ensure the highest standards of quality in our steel fabrication services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management system that meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee quality assurance and regulatory compliance functions to ensure seamless operations.
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of quality and excellence.
  • Manage and mentor the quality assurance team to ensure effective quality control procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Stay current on industry regulations and standards to ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, metallurgy, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control in a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQM, Six Sigma Black Belt) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of AISC and AWS standards and regulatory requirements specific to steel fabrication.
  • Proven experience with quality improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
