Mental Health Crisis Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Crisis Coordinator to join our team at Opportunity Development Centers Inc. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing mental health crises.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with law enforcement and community service providers to provide effective initial on-scene de-escalation, assessment, and intervention for individuals in crisis.
- Provide outreach, referrals, and follow-up services for community members affected by behavioral health issues.
- Collaborate with internal partners, civilian staff, and law enforcement to facilitate communication and effective responses to the community.
- Act as a liaison with community agencies, service providers, and mental health support systems.
- Provide training and education to law enforcement and other first responders on behavioral health services, de-escalation, and crisis intervention.
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, substance abuse, behavioral disorder, mental health counseling, or a related field.
- Two years' experience in social work, co-responder experience, victim advocacy, or therapy, including experience working with moderate to severe and persistently mentally ill populations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain accurate and timely records and data collection and documentation.
This position involves working directly with individuals who may present physical or verbal aggressions toward self, staff, or others. The employee must be able to manage high-stress environments and have good judgment and the ability to manage crisis situations.
This position performs tasks that may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Work locations during regular service hours include community settings, school settings, and individuals' home environments.
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, run, reach with hands and arms regularly.
- Ability to talk and hear.
- Ability to push, pull, squat, bend, stoop, twist, and kneel occasionally.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of inanimate objects occasionally.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs when manually assisting clients.
This position receives support from the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department and the Wood County Sheriff's Department. Supervision is provided by the Clinic Administrator at Opportunity Development Centers Inc.
