Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the Surveying/Drafting functions at the mine. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and training department employees, establishing best practices, and enforcing standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train department employees to ensure they are following established best practices and standards.
  • Coordinate the routine placement of daily survey sights for underground mining operations.
  • Perform and calculate check surveys to verify accuracy of survey sights.
  • Prepare and maintain mine maps, civil, electrical, and mechanical drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Prepare monthly volumetric assessments of mined areas and stockpiled tonnages.
  • Conduct surface surveying activities, including subsidence surveys, property/permit area boundary descriptions, support of exploration activities, and targeting for aerial surveys.
Requirements
  • 2-year Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in standard surveying principles/practices, calculations, and note reduction.
  • Excellent computer skills (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel over uneven surfaces, climb/descend ladders, and lift/carry up to 50 lb. objects on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4-year Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional Surveying License (PLS).
