Clinical Informaticist General Description
This position is responsible for managing the input collection, organization, and reporting of data and information for the safety and quality programs at SFHC. The Clinical Informaticist drives the optimal, efficient, and effective use of clinical information systems and technology as it relates to patient care, patient safety, user satisfaction, clinical productivity, and clinical outcomes, and serves as the key contact that bridges the gap between people, processes, clinical knowledge, and technology. Serves as a liaison between clinical departments, quality management, and information systems.

Clinical Informaticist Essential Duties
Working closely with both IT and patient care departments, the Informaticist provides leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing IT projects, initiatives, and the management of existing systems.
Responsible for the collection and/or coordination of all clinical quality measure data, including but not limited to Clinical Quality Measures, Quality Payment Program Reporting, Merit-Based Incentive Payment System, Uniform Data System, patient satisfaction surveys, quality reports for resident feedback, research projects, other data for internal quality improvement projects.
Support achievement toward the HRSA Health Center Quality Leader Badge Program and the HRSA Advancing IT Badge Program.
Collect and organize performance information for presentation to supervisors, staff, patients, SHEF Board of Directors, and required agencies.
Provide EHR support and education to clinical departments, including onboarding of new clinicians and staff.
Develop and maintain routine audits to ensure data integrity in EHR systems.
Develop and manage reporting mechanisms to monitor clinical and quality outcomes.
Acts as a primary resource for IT Helpdesk support, including but not limited to the following: provides basic level support for all IT devices and related software applications currently including but not limited to Rimidi, DocResponse, DemandForce, VIM overlay, Azara, and Aledade applications.
Assists IT with EHR updates and works with end users to adjust workflows and optimize new software features.
Serves as coordinator between IT technical personnel, vendors, and departmental staff on interface projects and updates.
As appropriate for organizational goals, participate in meetings including but not limited to the IT Security and Quality Department meetings, Compliance and Performance Improvement Committee.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Clinical Informaticist Skills Required
Solid understanding of the use and support of Electronic Health Records (EHR), including medical, dental, and optometry records.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to use graphs to evaluate and interpret data and summary results.
Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
Understanding of clinical workflows required.
Must be familiar with healthcare regulations and programs related to IT/Technology and data reporting.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and facilitation communication skills.
Ability to affect change, work as a productive and effective team member, be flexible, and adapt to needs/priorities.
Critical thinking skills and ability to analyze complex data sets. Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills and protocols.
Clinical Informaticist Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Informatics, or other healthcare related field;
Previous experience with EHR systems and healthcare databases;
Skills in implementing, maintaining, or upgrading health information systems;
Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient and employee-base;
Knowledge of healthcare safety and quality improvement principles.
