Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing quality systems for our suppliers, ensuring that they meet our high standards for quality and reliability. This role will involve working closely with our product engineering team, suppliers, and other stakeholders to drive quality and reliability across our supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement quality systems for suppliers, including process development, testing, and qualification.
  • Review supplier processes and capabilities to ensure alignment with product requirements.
  • Partner with development engineering, product quality engineering, and program management to deliver predictable supply to development programs and production programs.
  • Drive supplier quality readiness by analyzing key and critical characteristics for drawings and supplier specifications, developing measurement systems, and conducting supplier qualification activities.
  • Own the elimination of supplier risk to improve quality and reliability across the product lifecycle.
  • Utilize audits, readiness reviews, and training and documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Work cross-functionally to define and execute the technology/supplier capability roadmap and delivery schedules needed for future programs, proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and explorations.
  • Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities, while owning containments derived from purchased goods.
  • Drive resolution of fitment issues and review supplier effectiveness of actions and share lessons learned across the product team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field.
  • Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality in aerospace/defense or similar hardware.
  • Working knowledge of C4ISR systems, Cross-Platform Integration best practices, Total Lifecycle Support and Logistics Service for supporting vehicles and temporary structures.
  • Experience driving high-quality assemble and/or disassemble of complex projects and mechanical structures through developing drawings and supplier inspection with other engineering functions.
  • Understanding of test processes and in-process/end-of-line testing for electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with driving supplier performance and evaluation. Experience with Statement of Work (SOW), quality clauses, intellectual property (IP), and government regulations such as ITAR, etc.
  • Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements such as Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) quality improvement techniques, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • A strong ownership mindset with demonstrated capability to drive projects from start to completion.
  • Analytical skills and experiences for data mining, data quality, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools (MatLab, JMP, MiniTab, etc).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a technical field.
  • 5-7 years of experience with developing quality systems for low-volume, high-complex manufacturing environments and suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001-based Quality Management System requirements.
  • Experience with government contracts and MIL standard requirements.
