Air Quality Engineer

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Early-Career Air Quality Engineer to join our team in Costa Mesa, California.
About the Role:We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in environmental or chemical engineering to support our air quality permitting and compliance services. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in air quality permitting and compliance, preferably with an environmental consulting firm.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct regulatory analyses related to air quality matters as driven by the Clean Air Act;
- Prepare air emissions inventories and emissions calculations;
- Conduct air dispersion modeling;
- Develop air quality permit applications under NSR, PSD, Title V, and state-level regulations;
- Perform analyses related to air pollution control systems and source monitoring and measurement requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental or chemical engineering or related discipline;
- Advanced degree in environmental or chemical engineering (preferred);
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, if applicable (preferred);
- At least 2 years of air quality permitting and compliance experience, preferably with an environmental consulting firm, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience with federal, state, and local air regulations and permitting processes (preferred);
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets, derive actionable insights, and contribute to data-driven decision-making processes;
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing;
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
