Radiation Oncology Specialist

The Chesapeake Regional Medical Center seeks a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering accurate and safe radiation treatments to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver prescribed radiation oncology procedures to patients with precision and care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and respect their modesty at all times.
- Stay attuned to the emotional and physical needs of patients, recognizing and responding to their requests in a timely manner.
- Develop expertise in working with patients of various age groups, from adolescents to geriatrics.
- Stay up-to-date with hospital equipment and procedures related to radiation oncology, monitoring equipment for malfunctions and ensuring cleanliness.
- Double-check treatment settings before activating the treatment machine to ensure accuracy.
- Utilize the C.T. Simulator efficiently to perform simulation procedures with precision in positioning and immobilization techniques.
- Perform warm-up and clinical duties in high-dose rate after loading radiation treatments.
- Conduct block cutting, pouring, and electron cut-out manufacturing in the block room.
- Obtain image-guided radiation therapy scans and digital portal images to ensure accurate positioning and radiation exposure.
- Maintain current data in the Radiation Oncology Electronic Medical Record by scanning, importing, and exporting records.
- Organize and maintain a clean environment in the Cancer Center's Clinical Areas.
- Participate in performance improvement teams and suggest process changes to enhance services.
- Ensure that all customers' needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
- Demonstrate flexibility in work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care.
Requirements:
- High school diploma and successful completion of a Radiation Therapy Program.
- 2+ years of experience as a Radiation Therapist is preferred but not required.
- Registration through ARRT is required to work as a Radiation Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
