Medical Care Specialist

US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in Chesepeake. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support our mission to deliver exceptional cancer care and blood disorder services.
Responsibilities
Provide general nursing care to patients, including administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
Observe, record, and report patients' condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
Complete paperwork, including FMLA, disability, Home Health/Hospice, and transfusion orders.
Screen patients for appropriate information and respond to incoming telephone calls.
Instruct patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
Arrange transfusions and hospital admissions upon request.
Ensure appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures.
Prepare exam rooms, including re-stocking of treatment areas.
Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
Arrange for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications of hospital admissions as needed.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing. BSN preferred.
Requires a minimum of two years experience as a practical nurse (with Central Line Care and IV skills) in a hospital or clinic setting.
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
Current CPR certification required.
Must be willing to travel between offices when needed.
