Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Volt Management Corp. in Topeka, Kansas, United States.

About the Role:

This is a full-time contingent role that requires a strong background in mechanical design and engineering. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating structural and mechanical design solutions, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings for the conceptual and preliminary design development of the MCFR program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize inputs and requirements from Engineering and Project teams to produce equipment and components design solutions.
  • Provide planning and schedule input for design activities.
  • Develop testing documentation.
  • Perform scoping analysis and calculations for design options.
  • Interface with the team's engineering analysis activities.
  • Presentation of equipment and components design results for design reviews.
  • Interface with junior engineers and subcontractors, providing direction and mentoring.
Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of equipment / component design experience; relevant M.S. and Doctorate degrees may be credited for up to two and four years of experience.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with the rules of ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code Section III Division 5.
  • Previous experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Experience with design for Flow Induced Vibration (FIV) or working under a Comprehensive Vibration Assessment Program (CVAP).
  • Experience with writing design specifications.
