Job Overview

The Retail Operations Supervisor oversees daily store functions, providing guidance and training to both utility staff and cashiers. This role involves assigning daily tasks to Sales Associates and General Utility Workers, ensuring all preparations are in place for optimal service delivery. The Retail Operations Supervisor sets a standard for excellence in customer service, effectively addressing any guest concerns that may arise. Maintaining a professional and positive environment is essential, even in the absence of management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute all duties associated with Sales Associates and General Utility Workers.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to inform the team about daily objectives, special guests, and safety protocols.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of the local area to assist guests effectively.
  • Ensure all guests receive a warm welcome upon entering the store.
  • Provide training to Sales Associates and General Utility Workers, fostering a team dedicated to exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee operations in the manager's absence, addressing customer relations issues promptly and professionally.
  • Directly handle customer complaints, ensuring swift and effective resolutions.
  • Maintain inventory records, tracking out-of-stock items and potential shortages.
  • Order merchandise and supplies in appropriate quantities to meet customer demand.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and manage incident reports as necessary.
  • Ensure the store remains clean and inviting at all times.
  • Compile daily cash and sales reports using Microsoft Excel and various Point of Sale systems.
  • Lead the nightly closing process, reconciling cash with daily sales.
  • May perform audits of cashier documentation as needed.
  • Assist management with employee scheduling in line with labor budgets and task assignments.
  • Support the hiring process for General Utility Workers and Sales Associates.
  • May be responsible for payroll coordination, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in retail is preferred.
  • Mathematical proficiency is essential for managing sales reports and audits.
  • Must be of legal age to handle alcohol.
  • Certification in responsible alcohol service is required where applicable.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays, is necessary.
  • Fluency in the native language, both spoken and written, is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is essential.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as photocopiers, vacuum cleaners, calculators, printers, telephones, and Point of Sale systems.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor are mandatory.

This position may involve physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing. Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
