Position Overview

  • Support the oversight of electrical engineering contractors engaged in the design of renewable energy installations, including the definition of requirements and specifications, review of engineering schematics, and management of requests for information (RFIs).
  • Enhance designs to optimize return on investment (ROI).
  • Provide engineering consultancy to project managers during the initial design and engineering phases of collection systems and substations.
  • Offer engineering advisory services to various departments within the organization, including Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Power Marketing.
  • Develop and uphold electrical specifications and requirements to establish ACCIONA standards for contractors, ensuring alignment with corporate specifications.
  • Engage in the electrical 'Safety in Design' protocol for all ACCIONA projects under development and engineering.
  • Supervise electrical testing conducted by the Construction Team on-site prior to and during the commissioning of renewable energy facilities, assisting the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) team.
  • Provide electrical technical support to facilitate procurement processes. Oversee factory testing of major electrical equipment intended for installation at renewable energy facilities.
  • Assess proposals for electrical equipment and materials; prepare evaluations for bidding on electrical components.
  • Assist in managing Non-Conformity and Quality Audit programs.
  • Be present on-site for back feed and initial energization to the grid and startup processes.
  • Review and provide feedback on the scope of work outlined in electrical contracts.
  • Assist in the receipt and inspection of significant electrical equipment.
  • Adhere to company protocols to safely and effectively design and test ACCIONA renewable generation facilities for optimal performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of renewable generation technologies through participation in training opportunities and review of ACCIONA and industry-related documents and publications, as well as involvement in professional development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as ACCIONA's safety and environmental standards, policies, and practices during construction.
  • Generate weekly and monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Preferred experience in utility or power plant design, though not mandatory.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of delivering training on complex operations.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles and concepts.
  • Familiarity with protective relay applications and software is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to convey detailed information accurately to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professional representation of the company in interactions with external organizations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe operational practices, serving as a role model and resource within the organization.
  • Willingness to travel 15% - 30% of the time to both domestic and international locations.
  • Capability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
