Position Overview

Role Summary:

In alignment with our mission to enhance the quality of life for our Residents, the Recreational Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in executing the facility's scheduled events and activities under the guidance of the Activities Director. This position is dedicated to engaging Residents in meaningful daily routines through personalized activities that they have enjoyed in the past, fostering a sense of achievement, significance, and purpose in their current lives.

This is a full-time role.

Key Responsibilities:

Accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill the essential functions of this role.

  • Facilitates the Activity Program in accordance with the established monthly schedule and as directed by the Activities Director, ensuring that activities cater to the diverse needs of Residents, including both group and individual settings.
  • Monitors and documents Residents' participation, attendance, and any behavioral changes.
  • Assists in transporting Residents to and from various programs and supports community outings as required.
  • Prepares for activities by gathering necessary supplies and equipment ahead of time.
  • Communicates with the Activities Director regarding any required assistance from nursing, maintenance, or other departments for program preparation.
  • Promotes Resident involvement in group activities through personal invitations, announcements, and encouragement during events.
  • Familiar with individual care plans and contributes to the care planning process by providing relevant observations and information regarding Residents' preferences and needs, including dietary restrictions.
  • Collaborates with community volunteers to coordinate activity programs, providing direction and assigning tasks as needed.
  • Welcomes and introduces all new Residents upon their arrival.
  • Immediately informs nursing staff of any incidents or accidents involving Residents during group activities or individual visits.
  • Reports any noticeable changes in a Resident's behavior or condition to the Charge Nurse or Unit Manager, and communicates all incidents to the Recreation Director.

Supervisory Duties:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous experience working with senior populations or assisting in group activities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various arts and crafts activities is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Capable of organizing and executing tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues within the department and facility.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
