Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Dietary Manager to join our team at Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center. As a key member of our dietary department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and service are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Dietary Manager in planning, coordinating, and supervising the daily operations of the dietary department.
  • Ensure compliance with dietary regulations and standards set by federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Assist in menu planning that accommodates the dietary restrictions and preferences of residents/patients.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor dietary staff, ensuring they provide high-quality service and adhere to food safety protocols.
  • Monitor food preparation and service to ensure quality, portion control, and adherence to established recipes and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and dining areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and organization.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff to develop and update individual dietary care plans for residents/patients.
  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering and stocking supplies as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Address resident/patient concerns and feedback regarding meals and service, working towards continual improvement.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings and contribute to ongoing training and education for the dietary team.

Requirements

  • Required dietary experience or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Valid Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential or serve safe.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a dietary management or food service role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, food safety practices, and dietary guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing needs.
  • Proficient in using computer software for menu planning, inventory management, and dietary record-keeping.
