About This Role

CARTI seeks a dedicated and compassionate Urology Patient Financial Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our financial support services, you will work collaboratively with patients, families, team members, and other departments to ensure that all patients receive world-class care while minimizing financial toxicity.

Job Summary

The Urology Patient Financial Advocate will serve as a subject matter expert on patient assistance programs, including those managed by Social Work, Physician Dispensing, and Oral Oncolytic departments. Your core responsibility will be to ensure that all patients are able to receive necessary financial assistance, optimize health insurance coverage, and exhaust all options to reduce financial burden.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients remotely and in-person on a daily basis.
  • Work with patients to understand and optimize health insurance and supplemental coverage options for medical and pharmacy benefits.
  • Collaborate with Provider and Nursing Staff to investigate, attain, and activate patient financial assistance for medications dispensed from a pharmacy.
  • Work closely with the Social Work Team Lead to investigate, attain, and activate patient financial assistance options through external entities and internal grants/foundation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on patient assistance programs, including those managed by Social Work, Physician Dispensing, and Oral Oncolytic departments.
  • Provide patients and families with a clear overview of their treatment costs.
  • Identify, determine eligibility, and enroll patients into available co-pay, foundation, pharmaceutical assistance programs, and other patient assistance programs.
  • Assist patients with enrolling in Medicaid and other government-sponsored healthcare assistance programs.
  • Act as the patient's primary point of contact for all insurance and billing inquiries.
  • Determine patient responsibility and perform appropriate point of service collection.
  • Collect Payments due on Account.
  • Enroll patients in payment plan arrangements.
  • Verify current insurance coverage, including out-of-pocket costs, deductibles, and/or coinsurance as necessary.
  • Work closely with Medical Providers, Third-Party Payors, Business Office Team Members, Social Workers, and other CARTI organizational departments to coordinate the financial aspects of a patient's care.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of two years' medical collection experience.
  • Strong knowledge of patient assistance programs for medical and pharmacy benefits.
  • Knowledge of The Affordable Care and No Surprise Act.
  • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, spreadsheets, and applications.
  • Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory governmental provisions.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is between $65,000 and $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
