About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Engineer to join our team as a Big Data Engineer. In this role, you will design and develop robust, secure, and maintainable data solutions that enable our advanced Analytics, Reporting, and Machine Learning capabilities across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop data solutions using Big Data technologies such as Map/Reduce, Hive, Spark, and NoSQL data stores.
  • Collaborate with IT personnel, infrastructure/cloud engineering, business stakeholders, and vendor contacts to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical direction to other data engineers and ensure team members are held accountable for data engineering principles and practices.
  • Lead Agile processes and principles, influencing the team to improve operational processes for efficiency gains.
  • Engage in internal and external learning opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest data engineering, machine learning, and AI techniques.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering production applications on Big Data technologies, with expertise in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Scala).
  • 5+ years of experience with BI disciplines, with mastery of 2+ of the following: Cloud, Object-Oriented Programming, Data Integration, Modeling, or Analytics.
  • Advanced knowledge of Apache Spark and experience with ETL solutions.
  • Understanding of Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI techniques, and how to optimize processes supporting them in a Big Data ecosystem.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Databricks, EMR, and Redshift.
  • Knowledge of ingesting data from APIs and optimizing processes leveraging them.
  • Experience with source code version control systems (git) and authoring CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and rolling out programming best practices in an organization.
