Optum Medical Transcriptionist Job Description

At Optum, we're dedicated to delivering care and improving health outcomes for millions of people worldwide. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you'll play a vital role in connecting patients with the care and resources they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe dictated medical information into accurate and comprehensive documents
  • Provide medical transcription services directly to healthcare providers
  • Enter diagnoses, ICD-10 codes, and other relevant information into electronic health records
  • Pend prescriptions, lab orders, referrals, and imaging studies for provider review and signature
  • Input billing, E&M codes, and CPT codes for various medical procedures
  • Assist providers with non-medical tasks and respond to their queries

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of experience as a medical transcriptionist
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
