Med Surg Overview:

Mercy Fort Smith's Med Surg Service Line is a dynamic team that delivers compassionate patient care. With 7 specialty units, our nurses gain experience in caring for patients with diverse diagnoses and care needs. We foster a strong foundational knowledge of patient conditions, comorbidities, and procedures through cross-training between units. Whether you're a new graduate or an experienced nurse, Med Surg offers a fulfilling career path with opportunities to grow and develop.

Neuro Unit Details:

  • Our patient population includes those with neurological/neurosurgical/surgical and urological diagnoses, including stroke patients and post-back surgery patients.
  • We maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 6:1, ensuring personalized care.
  • Our unit is equipped with 18 beds, and we have a UAP-to-patient ratio of 9:1.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
  • Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
  • Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.
