Position Summary:

The Federal Audit Analyst is responsible for executing segments of client engagements under the direct guidance of an Audit Senior. This role involves assisting with audits of federal government agencies, departments, or organizations to ensure adherence to federal regulations, accuracy in financial reporting, and the efficacy of internal controls. The analyst works collaboratively within a team to collect evidence, conduct testing, and offer recommendations for enhancing financial and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct audit procedures such as substantive testing, compliance testing, and analytical procedures to verify financial statements and ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Collect and analyze financial data, documents, and reports pertinent to the audit engagement.
  • Assess internal controls, identify potential risks, and devise strategies for mitigation.
  • Maintain comprehensive audit documentation, including workpapers, findings, and conclusions, in accordance with professional standards.
  • Draft clear and concise audit reports that outline findings, recommendations, and compliance status.
  • Engage with clients to request information, discuss audit progress, and address any inquiries or concerns.
  • Stay informed about changes in federal regulations, audit standards, and industry best practices to enhance expertise.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary audit team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA certification or progress towards it is preferred.
  • Entry-level position; internship experience or relevant work experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Possess strong organizational, time management, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for fulfilling the key responsibilities of the role.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
