Mammography Radiologic Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Carle Health. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized diagnostic radiological procedures, including invasive procedures, to confirm or deny required treatment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mammographic exams in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of medical imaging to assigned patients of all ages.
- Exhibit competency in performing mammographic procedures, including invasive mammographic guided procedures such as stereo/Tomo biopsy, galactogram, localization procedures, specimen imaging, and specimens from Histology.
- Knowledgeable about views required for each exam and use proper compression to obtain accurate images.
- Obtain accurate histories and explain the rationale for the procedure to patients and families.
- Enhance image quality through the use of appropriate exposure factors and identify images with appropriate markers and patient identification.
- Position patients for appropriate views, making them as comfortable as possible, and perform patient education throughout the exam.
- Protect patient privacy as much as possible and complete a minimum of 200 mammography procedures per year.
- Maintain working knowledge of equipment to function in multiple areas of mammography and report equipment problems through appropriate channels.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly QC/QA tests and maintain a clean work area, checking and stocking all supplies in their specific area and verifying pertinent accessories assigned to that room.
- Competent in DEXA procedures and competent on Mammography workstation.
- Promptly complete paperwork and obtaining images to ensure timely turn-around in providing a report to the physician's office and accurately enter patient information into the HIS system to ensure efficient patient throughput.
- Maintain and ensure a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs.
- Assume personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students and share knowledge and guide fellow technologist/students with proper department protocol and procedures.
- Display a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
- Complete work within assigned shift and use time, supplies, and other resources productively to promote responsive and cost-effective care of patients.
- Associate's Degree in the field of Radiology required.
- License-IEMA Radiography and Radiography (R)(ARRT) and Mammography (M)(ARRT) certification required.
- BLS with 30 days required.
