Quality Inspector 2nd Shift Job Description

Atkore International is seeking a Quality Inspector 2nd Shift to join our team. As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products by performing random sampling inspections, inspecting in-process and finished products, and recording and maintaining all inspection information.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform random sampling inspections of all incoming, in-process, and finished products to ensure 100% quality requirements are met.
  • Ensure product after each changeover is verified to ensure compliance to product requirements.
  • Record and maintain all inspection information in designated check sheets.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports when defective product conditions are observed, including updating required logs for traceability purposes.
  • Monitor status of product on hold and work with cross-functional teams to ensure disposition of material is performed in a timely manner.
  • Perform Layered Process Audits to ensure all required processes and product characteristics are being complied with.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to achieve site goals.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions immediately.
Requirements:
  • Proven track record as a quality inspector for at least 2 years.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen eye for details and passion for results and facts-based approach.
  • Familiarity with quality testing methods (e.g., vernier caliper, micrometer, hardness test, tension test, etc.).
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 Quality Management System-based organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
What You'll Bring:
  • Proven track record as a quality inspector for at least 2 years.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen eye for details and passion for results and facts-based approach.
  • Familiarity with quality testing methods (e.g., vernier caliper, micrometer, hardness test, tension test, etc.).

What You'll Achieve:
  • Complete your Atkore immersion program within 3 months.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
  • Gain an understanding of your team and the training materials and procedures your team owns.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore within 6 months.
  • Achieve operational excellence, superior product, and customer satisfaction within 6 months.
  • Perform UL and CSA required testing within 12 months.
  • Interact with plant personnel on quality testing and inspections within 12 months.
  • Document NCRs and ICARs for nonconforming materials and processes within 12 months.
