Role Description:
In our Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospitals, the veterinarian role is central to our operations. Our veterinarians are passionate about delivering quality care to both pets and their owners. They are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including ultrasound, heated hydraulic surgery tables, and DDXR, and are supported by a skilled medical team and paraprofessionals who are encouraged to develop their expertise in areas such as dentistry and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional patient care through thorough examinations, accurate diagnoses, and effective treatment plans tailored to each pet's unique needs.
- Employ a systematic approach to problem-solving, ensuring comprehensive assessments and diagnostic plans are in place for every patient.
- Maintain detailed medical records documenting all patient interactions, findings, and treatment protocols.
- Conduct routine and advanced surgical procedures, including spays, neuters, and mass removals.
- Perform dental procedures, including comprehensive examinations and complex extractions.
- Manage treatment plans for hospitalized patients, ensuring seamless transitions to overnight care when necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Engage in team rounds to ensure continuity of care and effective communication among staff.
- Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues to enhance overall care quality.
- Undertake other duties as assigned to support hospital operations.
Supervision and Collaboration:
The veterinarian will work under the guidance of the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols. Collaboration among hospital staff is essential to maintain a professional and supportive environment.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
- Active veterinary license in the relevant state.
- Current DEA and Controlled Substance Licenses.
- USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire.
- Proficiency in anesthesia and routine surgical procedures.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Compassionate demeanor with the ability to remain professional in challenging situations.
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Work Environment:
This role primarily takes place within the Vetco Total Care veterinary hospital, requiring physical stamina for tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Direct interaction with clients and their pets is a significant aspect of the position.
Communication:
Regular communication with clients, veterinary specialists, and service providers is essential to ensure the highest level of care.
